Fall leaves (and pumpkins, too)
Fall is a time to shed the old to make way for the new. Trees drop their leaves, which is one of the symbols most people think about when autumn comes to mind. Leaves are easy to incorporate into fine fashion jewelry earrings, bracelets, and rings.
Whether you prefer a drop-style earring or a stud, our master jewelers can create a stunning earring that features fall leaves. If you want to get fancy, you can add some fall earth tone gemstones to your studs or drop-style earrings. Dangle earrings are a hot fall jewelry trend this year, with plenty of options for incorporating leaves into this style.
Leaves also work well on bracelets and rings. They can be engraved into a solid gold band or designed using gemstones for added elegance.
Pumpkins and acorns also make interesting fall fashion jewelry designs. A drop necklace, for instance, can feature a simulated acorn or pumpkin crafted from an earth tone gemstone.
Stackable rings are a hot fall jewelry trend this year. You easily can create your own series of stackable rings in a fall them, using leaf designs and earthy-hued gemstones.
Earth tone gemstones
Fall is the perfect time to break out – or design – fine fashion jewelry that features earth tone gemstones. You can use earth tone gemstones to create stunning and timeless pieces that can be worn for years to come.
Using any one or combination of these earthy gemstones works well for earrings, necklaces, and rings.
Amber is a classic earth tone. When used in fine fashion jewelry, it appears with a goldish-orange hue. It’s derived from fossilized tree resin that can contain natural materials trapped inside during fossilization.
Amber is perfect for drop necklaces. You can feature the amber gemstone as the centerpiece, surrounded by small diamonds or other accent gems to complement the piece. It also works well in fine fashion jewelry rings. Pair it with other gemstones or as a solo centerpiece in a gold setting.
Citrine is a quartz-based gem that comes in shades from transparent yellow to a brownish-orange. It is one of the most popular yellow gemstones for fine fashion jewelry because of its versatility in pairing with other gemstones and settings.
Durable and affordable, citrine also is one of the November birthstones along with topaz. We can help you design it into a single-stone ring or a bracelet with fall leaves made from citrine gemstones.
If you like darker earth tones for your fall-inspired custom jewelry pieces, hessonite garnet fits the bill. It comes in warm reddish brown and orange-yellow tones. The International Gem Society refer to it as a “cinnamon stone” because of its hue.
Hessonite garnets are inexpensive and make eye-catching centerpieces for earrings, necklaces, and rings. Sterling silver or gold settings work well with this earth tone gemstone, making the design combinations endless.
Sunstone comes from the same gem family as moonstone. The difference is that sunstone has a translucent base color that’s brownish-red to yellowish-orange in hue. It has a sparkling metallic luster that really makes this earth tone gemstone pop when it’s incorporated into earrings, necklaces, and rings.
Topaz is another November gemstone. It comes in a variety of colors, including yellow. There is a deeper meaning behind topaz. The people of India once believed that wearing topaz above the heart signified a long life, beauty, and intelligence. You can design stunning earrings and a matching necklace featuring yellow topaz as the centerpiece.
How custom designed jewelry works
Creating custom-designed jewelry with Harris Jewelers is super easy. We follow a three-step process that ensures you end up with an enviable fine fashion jewelry piece you can proudly wear.
- Step 1 is the design phase. During this part of the process, you brainstorm with one of our master jewelers to provide your preferences and ideas.
- Step 2 is the rendering phase. With a blueprint to follow from step 1, master jewelers render a computer-generated image and wax model to guide them in creating the final piece. We receive your approval before proceeding to the final step.
- Step 3 is the casting phase. The master jeweler casts and completes your custom fall inspired jewelry design and presents you with the one-of-a-kind piece.
